The control booth in the Roberts Studio Theatre is located in the Northwest corner of the space, or in the standard riser configuration, back of house left. Traditionally, this is the calling position for stage managers as well as operators for lighting, sound, and any other department tied to a desk. While it is not massive, it is reconfigurable to each production's needs. There are three sliding glass windows that separate the booth from the house that should remain shut unless a reconfiguration is in progress so as not to cause an HVAC issue.
The calling position can be relocated nearly anywhere in the theatre when the risers are reconfigured. Please reach out to the Operations Team for options that make sense with each alternate configuration.
The majority of large productions that come through the Roberts are not musicals, and therefore do not have any microphone reinforcement of the actors. For this reason, the rep position of the audio console is within this booth behind glass, as the typical audio track for these types of productions do not involve live mixing. When live mixing is required, the audio console is easy movable out onto the gallery in the Northwest corner, or other locations within the theatre with prior arrangement.
